I heard about the accident right after it happened. The story I heard was that the driver was trying to catch up to his brother on the road. Obviously above the speed limit. After catching his brother he passed him lost control and put the new Z06 into the trees. The passenger was his wife.

Doesn't exactly match the newspaper story, but this is what I heard.

I guess cars are becoming SO capable that when control is finally lost really bad, sad things can happen.

Wonder if this was a case of throttle induced oversteer;i.e. oversteer that results making a sharp turn under full power (WOT) or oversteer that occurs when making a sharp turn and simultaneously going from WOT to a no power (idle) gas pedal setting.
