1963 brake pedal vs clutch pedal

today i was installing the brake and clutch pedal
and wanted to align them so they are on the same height.

i set the clutch pedal as it should and hits the rubber bumper
    thats ok

while the brake pedal is not attached to the clevis of the booster
and when i pull the pedal and hits the rubber bumper it lines up perfectly
    with the clutch

but then the booster rod with the clevis is 3/4 of an inch to short
is this typical for power brakes on 63 ?

this how it looked like before the restoration (same as it is now)

Sander, that's exactly the way it's supposed to be. The pedals would be even without power brakes but with power brakes, the brake pedal is an inch or two lower than the clutch pedal.

By the way, I see that your dash board end tabs and rivets appear to be painted gloss body color, just like they're supposed to be. Were the door jambs original paint when you bought the car?

the picture above is from the car before

and yes ther where painted body collor including the rivets,
the car has been repainted in the past but as far as i could see only on the outside.

the car has been repainted again in the same order as it was.
after this i was looking in Noland Adams c2 resto book
and saw they should be interior collor and where riveted after paint

          Sander,

Your blue/blue 63 with gloss blue painted dash tabs and rivets is absolutely correct. This has been a VERY confusing issue for a lot of folks over the years. The tabs and rivets on your 63 were painted gloss body color at the assenbly plant. The tabs and rivets were painted gloss body color on ALL 63's, no matter what the interior/exterior color combination.

I don't have the Noland Adams book but if it states that any 63's or early 64's have semi gloss dash tabs and unpainted black rivets, it's incorrect.
Unpainted black rivets first appeared some time during the 64 model year on cars with matching interior/exterior colors. This procedure continued through the end of 67 production.

This topic probably deserves it's own discussion because it's been a very confusing issue for decades.
