1961 Corvette T10b To T10c Case Info

Does anyone know when the 1961 Corvette T10 four speed transmissions changed from a T10B to T10C case?
Verne Frantz has researched Chevy passenger cars and now would like to know when Corvette made the change to T10C cases. Thanks,Bob

Bob,
My 61 was built on January 10, 1961. I believe its the original transmission but can't say for sure. It has a T-10 1C with a build date of Dec. 22, 1960.

I have it that the T10 - 1B cast iron case was from June 59 to Jan 61.
61 - 62 for the T10 - 1C alum case
62 - 63 the T10 - 1D, in late 1963 the Muncies were introduced

have had a dec 61 vette whose orig case was cast iron. my jan 61 vette , vin 4757 built jan 17th of 1961, has the aluminum t-10 case. mike

Interesting that a Dec. 1961 would have a cast iron case...I know that all the 1961's built in 1960 used a lot of 1960 parts, I guess the General's inventory was not always used up during change over dates...

mike, my 61 was built july 61, vin 10,800( 139 from the end) trans is original and aluminum- c case.

There are a few great posts in the archives in reference to the 1961 T-10. I believe that you could see an aluminum main case as early as November 1960 and a cast iron case into January or February of 1961.

I have a very original May 1961 with an aluminum main case.
