    72 TCS solenoid wiring harness

I messed up big this time!! I melted the harness where it plugs into the back of the solenoid. I looked in all of the books for an extension, no luck. Was this only included in the engine wiring harness? Any thoughts on how I should proceed short of getting a new harness?
    Thanks for the help.

Part of the engine harness, but similar systems were used on many Chevrolet lines in '72 and possibly up thru '74. You might be able to salvage some pieces off a Chevelle, Nova, or similar unit. Some lines used it with manual trans only configurations. If you smoked the tcs wires, you really need to look at the entire harness to see what else might have been melted or damaged. The new harness might be the best way to go...

Thanks William. It really only melted the connector and about 1 inch of the wiring. I checked all of the wiring this winter and re-wrapped the engine compartment and all of the lines were very soft and pliable.

Jeff, this comment is pretty obvious, but I will say it in case you haven't thought of it:

You can hide repair splices in the taped portion of the harness...done carefully, it's an undetectable repair. If you are able to find a donor TCS harness branch from another contemporary Chevrolet car as Bill suggested, insure you get enough donor harness wire to hide your splice. Another option is to simply reverse the damaged end into the taped portion of the harness, assuming you have a useable end connector.

Curious. Do you know why the harness and connector fried?

the first cause was stupidity, the second was I had disconnected it in preparation to put my NOS solenoid on and left it hanging on the exhaust manifold and........you know how the story ends.
