    1954 dash color

I've checked the archives and didn't come up with much.

I'd like to get the correct color paint (gold-ish) and gloss (satin finish) used on the dash of the 1954 Pennant Blue. I'd also like to get it in rattle cans. I was told Wal*Mart has a Krylon paint color on the shelf for under $3 bucks that is so close even Roy Braatz wouldn't be able to tell, but I sure didn't see anything there on my visit last night. Besides, I'm more concerned about getting it right than bragging about paying less than $3 bucks.

Any ideas on a source or paint numbers, etc.? I appreciate your help.

    Randy

If you are set on Krylon, try the web page, they usually have color chips with numbers. You could try Tower Paint, they might have the chip or could mix some in a rattle can. They use automotive grade enamel, runs about $17.00 a can for a single.

I used a raddle can Krylon light beige many years ago on my dash area which is not a white paint like 53. It's close as you can get back then to original and will pass judging . Now days I don't know what people use.It still looks good to day.

The paint color that used to be on the dash of our '54 was just about the same color as the shoreline beige you have, Roy.

I have an original 1954 DITZLER exterior paint color chip chart (form 5405 Rev. 3-56) which shows METALLIC BLUE POLY (Pennant Blue) and Polo White as the Corvette colors. It also has paint chips for Shoreline Beige as well as other colors available back then for other Chevrolet models. But no chips for the tan/gold interior of a Pennant Blue.

I don't know what to tell you about color unless it's a copper 55 ,if any one has questions on paint or parts you need to ask judges or follow the JM .
If your going NCRS ! If I mention anything not in the JM
I think? I'm helping with the 55 JM but get no feed back! and it don't mean anything will change .

I've used a 1 stage Autumn Bronze for the dash and it appears pretty close

Do tell! Can it be ordered in rattle cans?

The "Autumn Bronze" can't be put in rattle cans with much success because of the reactive reducer in the paint. Quart runs about $80 to $90 and reduces 1 1/2 to 1 which gives you 2 1/2 quarts of sprayable paint.
