    67 Exhaust Heat Shields

Hey, put a pair of exhaust heat shields on my car this winter since I just realized none were there. I tell ya, some things you do to your car don't seem to do much but man did those shields cool down my transmission tunnel and walls. Used to be after driving an hour or so my console above the tranny was almost too hot to touch. Now, almost nothing. Can't believe it works so well.

    Kirk:
Do you have the insulation blanket under the tunnel? This also makes a great difference in the interior heating.

I just installed the shields on the new exhaust in my 66. There weren't any on the old pipes. I'm looking forward to the impact of both the shields and the thermal shield under the new carpet I installed. The interesting thing I noted while installing them is that the units I installed (from Corvette America) appear to be longer than the ones shown in the AIM. They fit perfectly but the one in the AIM sure looked shorter.

Keep cool, keep driving and STW!

Yes, it is there although it looks worse for the wear.

Got mine from LICS, and I really didn't sense the same thing, but to be honest, I'm not sure I paid that much attention to it.
