    '67 headrests

Has anyone installed headrests in a '67? How do you get the conversion kit (the receiving end for the headrest) in the seat back? The springs at the top of the seat back are in the way. Am I going to have to take the seat covers off? Finally (if I ever figure this out) the instructions say to weld this piece to the seat back frame; considering how flimsy this piece is, I was just going to tap in holes for 1/4" bolts in the seat back frame. Bad idea? Thank you.

Hey Larry. My 67 came with the headrests, but I can tell you, yes the covers have to come off. RE: tapping vs. welding, it's your call. Let us hope you NEVER need them. Take care, Bill.

Thanks, Bill. That's what I figured--the covers have to come off--although I don't like it! But, I also don't want to be a 'wobble-head' in case of an accident.

I added after market headrests to my 67. You must take the seat back completely apart, if for no other reason than that the receiving ends MUST be welded to the seat frame. Securing the HR units with puny 1/4" bolts would be silly, since we are talking about absorbing the force of violent whiplash here.
