    69 caliper mounting bracket finish

I have my original 69 cal brackets sand blasted and primed. What is the correct finish to apply and who supplies it. Thanks,

    Hi Lynn,
The tech guide calls for the front mounts to be 'plated gold iridite' and the rear to be 'painted low gloss black'.

Thanks Alan for the info. Have you ever duplicated the gold iridite finish using the Eastwood spray paint system? Lynn S

        Duplicate? No.
Make a poor facsimile thereof? Yes.

No matter how good you are with it, it looks like paint and will warrant deductions if you're getting judged. It'll just warrant extra work if you wait until later to redo it.

I'd send the part out to have it done right. It should not be terribly expensive to have it replated and gold iridite dipped.

          Hi Lynn,
Patrick is really right. Having parts properly plated rather than trying to duplicate the look with paint is one of the important things that set a well restored car apart from the ordinary. AND, the judges really notice that kind of effort and detail, too.
