64 Interior Door Release Mechanism Finish

What is the correct finish on the interior door realease mechanism? Mine had interior overspray on it but the overall mechanism was painted black as well as the surrounding area. The vast majority of interior door was painted interior color. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Craig W.

A mix of cadmium, natural, and galvanized.
I think that the rails were originally galvanized, as well as the window regulator sector gear.
As far as, exactly which parts are which finish, I can say certainly, that none were painted. Most of the reproduction parts are done in zinc plating.

If you're refering to the shaft behind the chrome door opener ball, the visible part of the shaft would have received some body color, possibly some interior color, (coupe only) and finally a quick shot of black that was supposed to cover all the other colors.
Often, the body color shows, especially on the front, or forward part of the shaft that didn't receive black. (although it was supposed to have)

The black shield that fits over the outboard end of the shaft should hide the rest of the items. (if so equipped. some 63's and 64's have been reported without the shield)
