    Low idle/Fuel leak at Carb

I just wanted to say hello to everyone as I am a new member. What a great discussion board!!!!!

    1971 350/4spd with Air
I have been searching through the archives for the past few days with a problem that I am experiencing but have not been able to pinpoint the right thread. My problem is this; drove car around town shut it off, came back 20 min later, car running with low idle 400rpm and wanting to stall. Got home pulled the air cleaner off and shut car off and noticed fuel leaking from drivers side of carb under throttle shaft. CEC solenoid was disengaged (plunger in). Engine temp 200f. First thoughts were fuel percolation or leaking fuel bowl. Checked for any loose carb screws and they are OK. Any advice would be great. Thanks Andrew

check to make sure none of the primary air bleeds are plugged or dirty as these are a siphon break when you shut off the engine

Thank you for the reply. Yes, it is the original Q-Jet (7041213) NO, the air bleeds are not plugged.

Have you updated the needle and seat? The original floats have a tendency to loose bouyancy especially with today's gas. May (or may not) create the problem you are seeing.

            Thanks for the reply!!

Got a rebuild kit this week-end so I'll give it a shot and see how it goes.

Depending on where you get the kit, the float may not be included.
