Chevy Orange or Corporate Blue?

Please tell me when Corvette engine paint changed from Orange to Blue. 1977?

Just read an article today, about a persons 77 one owner Corvette. It was mentioned that 1977 was the year engines went blue.

I'm pretty sure the change occurred during the 1977 model year. Very early engines were Chevrolet orange and later were blue. I do not know just when the change occurred. However, I believe it was quite early in the model year, like the first month, or so. So, if you're talking about a 1977 built in 1977, I think it was almost certain to have been blue. If it was built during late 1976, then I don't know.

...I saw a very original unrestored fairly low mile 1977 Corvette at a car show last year and it was like VIN#00486, probably a second or third day production '77 and it had "Chevy Orange" engine.
