    1965 Coupe Rear Blower/Exhauster Wiring

I was checking why the rear exhauster on my 1965 coupe had never functioned since I bought the car. I found that two wires near the drivers side kick panel had been disconnected and the ends taped. I hooked up power and both speeds for the exhauster worked ok.

Where do I hook up the two wires according to original wiring specs? I read in the judging guide that the rear exhauster does not function with the heater blower running.

    Thanks for any assistance.

The AIM would be a good place to start.

      Thanks for the response Mike.

I just found the wiring diagram I needed in the 1965 Corvette Shop Manual Supplement. One wire connects to the heater switch, the other is the ground.

Mike -- agree that the circuit diagram in the '65 Shop Manual Supplement is clearer than the AIM. But you've probably noticed that dwg. is for base equipment; doesn't show the power antenna wiring, nor the back-up lights.

BTW, the rear exhaust fan has 3 speeds; first pull of under-dash knob opens the trap door, then 3 more notches for increasing speeds.

Thanks Wayne for clarifying that the blower is 3 speed. Now that I look at the switch attached to the blower housing, I see that there are three positions on it. Agree with your comment on the wiring diagram.

If you really get into the circuitry for the speed control resistor on the rear blower, don't change the wire positions in the resistor connector to match the factory wiring diagram - it's wrong (the positions of the 16-ga. black/light blue and the 16-ga. black/yellow wires are reversed in the GM diagram).
