    vacuum line

I wasn't able to attach the picture for this, so I'll try to explain. I have a 65 SB w/ A/C. There is a T fitting for vacuum on the firewall / right side. One end of the T comes in from the intake manifold, one goes back along the firewall pulling a vacuum to all that stuff behind the distributor, and the other one went somewhere up by my radiator overflow tank. What does this last one hook up to ?

    Thanks, Mark

there should be a vac operated heater shut-off valve mounted on a bracket on the pass side of the firewall.mike

      Mike,

I have another/smaller line coming out of the same area (on firewall, behind distributor) that goes down to the heater valve. The heater is operating fine, so I assume this smaller line is right for the valve. The slightly larger one coming off of the T fitting is the one in question. Based on the length and bend (from years of being bent a certain way) in the hose, it seems as though it would go somewhere near the radiator overflow tank. Any other thoughts ?

      Thanks,
      Mark

There were no devices requiring a vacuum source forward of the coolant valve for the heater. From the vacuum fitting on the intake manifold, the hose went inside to the brass control valve on top of the heater box, and from there back out through the firewall to the coolant valve on the firewall. That was it - no other vacuum connections on an A/C car.

Mark -- the "other" hose off the tee goes to the "Sputnick" [aka Absolute Vacuum Regulator] attached to the bottom of your Suction Throttling Valve. The connection of the hose should be approx. in line with the rear-most side of the overflow tank.

This hose was factory routed direcly down from the "T", but if it was replaced, maybe they found a safer location, away from the exhaust manifold.
