The door latch striker torque drive bolts on my 1971 (build date end of Jan 71) are bronze color with a round moveable piece. The replacement ones I ordered from Paragon Corvettes came today--they are painted black and don't have the moveable round piece on the bolt. Which is correct? Thanks

The originals were zinc plated and had a light dichromate overplate. However, the level of brightness of the overplate may have varied. The originals did have the "rotatable collar" on the shaft of the bolt. The Paragon pieces are replacements. I expect that what they are selling is the current GM replacement, GM #15013147.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1971 door latch striker bolt
Paul,
I have a Dec. 70 build date 71. I am new to the hobby so I can only tell you what I have and I beleive to be original. The stike bolt on mine has a seam on the lower end of the shaft but does not rotate like a sleeve. It may just be frozen. I was not aware that this should. The metal color I can only describe as either galvanized or dull stainless (dull silver). It has some residual body paint on it but I know the car was repainted at some time and may have been unpainted originally. I hope this helps you. Mike- Top

Re: 1971 door latch striker bolt
Hi Michael & Paul
I just looked at my mid Jan. build 71. The striker is as Joe decribed. The rotating collar is VERY thin metal and 'captured' at the front end of the shaft by a change in the shaft diameter just to the rear of the length of the collar. I see these at swap meets often, and they seem to be in good shape except for the plating.
