Hi, My name is Bruce and I'm a First time user. In regards to a 60, 245 HP,2x4 what would be the appropriate intake manifold gasket in terms of a open exhaust cross-over or closed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: C1 Question-Intake Manifold
I agree. It's especially do-able with a 1960 application since the choke operation does not depend on the heat cross-over.
As far as the heat riser is concerned, you must wire it open if you block the cross-over just as clem describes. However, if that concerns you for judging purposes you can do this: remove the heat riser valve and cut out the butterfly valve, leaving the shaft intact. Re-install and you will have a heat riser valve that will operate, from appearances, in a normal manner, but will do nothing functionally.
One caution: the above is essentially undetectable. However, in an operation check for PV, if a judge were to check the exhaust output from both sides at idle, the change may be discerned. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Thanks for your advice, I think I will try this technique. I spent all afternoon at the parts store & on the phone trying to find the right gasket for this application to no avail! I'm told that Fel-Pro makes quality gaskets. Would you by chance have a Fel-Pro Gasket number that would be appropriate for this application? I even had the parts man behind the counter call Fel-Pro direct for help. I inquired about #1204 W/blocked crossover and was told that it would not be appropriate with a aluminum intake????? Help...- Top

You can use the #1204 or the #1256 as Jeff advises. If I recall correctly, the 1204 has no block-off plates; it's just gasket material that forms the block-off. The #1256 has the included block-off plates. I MUCH prefer the plates to the just the gasket material.
You can also use Mr. Gasket #100. This has the block-off plates included. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
