    64 coupe body mount replacement

i want to replace my body mount cushions, but would like to know if they can be replaced without removing the body completely,if they can how high do i have to raise the body. number 1 and 4 dont look to be a problem but #2 and 3 may cause a problem, also should i use rubber or poly. march 10 build date only has 4 on each side

    Richard,
The body on you coupe needs to be lifted to change body mount cushions but I fear you may open pandoras box. If you break the hold down bolts or forget to loosen something you will be sorry. If everything is loose you can lift one side at a time in the air about eight inches and change the cushions but getting to this point is the issue.

        Richard,
If it's the rear cushion behind the tire and you don't break the bolt you may be able to jack the car up by lifting under the doors which will allow the rear part of the frame (behind the tires) to flex down. You will probably have to take both sides loose so the frame will flex down. I don't know if the frame will flex enough to remove cushions but it may.
Of course you get back to the bolts breaking and also all the rear bumper brackets, muffler hanger and anything else in the rear that attaches the body to the frame.

thanks again tim, the cushion is cracked around the outside but still has plenty of rubber and is not causing any ratteling so im going to leave well enough alone.
