The 7 leaf spring is correct for the F40 HD suspension. The standard suspension rear spring would have been a 9 leaf.

It's hard to say...there are really two questions here:

(1) Did that car come from the factory with the F40 option?

(2) Is the current rear leaf spring an F40 component?

The two are different because it was 'popular' back when for prior owners to 'beef up' this/that aspect of their cars by adding over-the-counter parts.

The F40 option included HD rear spring (7 vs. 9 leafs), HD front coil springs, HD shocks, and HD front sway bar (0.9375" diameter vs. 0.75" diameter).
