I've used the POR15 tank sealant without success. The ethanol broke it down and ended up with floating residue. For my 1968 Triumph Bonnevile, which had rust in the tank, I poured about a half gallon of rust converter (phosphoric acid) and left it over night. I sloshed it around every couple of hours. It can out perfect. Alot easier on a motorcycle tank than a vette tank but the principle is the same.

PS One tank of ethanol fuel in my OSSA's fiberglass tank delaminated it. I still haven't figured out what to do about that.

Just an idea I haven't heard talked about. I bought my 61 in 1978, and when I drove it home I smelled gas. the tank was rusted and leaking. I took it out, and took it to Strassburg Welding in Niagara Falls. He cut out the bad, and replaced it beautifully with new metal. He even formed it to the matching contour! I'm sure Mr. Strassburg is long gone by now, as are many craftsman of his time, but hopefully there are some left.
The tank is still perfect to this day!

I remember the old days as well. Today we're stuck with repro tanks. Quanta almost gets it right. The sending unit from Corvette Central is perfect. The only problem is that Quanta put the vent line fitting in the wrong place. Ok, they were only about an 1/8" off.

I had to bend the vent line fitting in order to install the fuel line. The most frustrating part of reproduction parts is that they're almost right. It wouldn't have cost Quanta any more money to have put the vent line in the right place. Why not do it properly? Actually this tank is far better than a lot of the parts I've purchased over the years.
