    57 Engine Numbers Help.

I am trying to decode a a early 57 Vette #100531, I have a couple of questions. Everything I have decoded seems to be for a 57 pass. car and not for a vette. I need you guys to them me what you think.
Engine has a casting number of 3731548 and a stamped number t925f and a date code of 12058.
The Rear has a Casting Number of 3725899, Date code H167, Stamped Code BB826.
The Trans is a powerglide casting 3718243 and Date code F137 and Casting 3708134 and Date code G107 and Tailhousing 3708241.

    Thanks for the Help, James

    James,
Looks like the block is a Tonawanda 2 barrel powerglide froma pass car. Are you sure about the dates ? 3731548 should be a 57 block but I don"t see how it could be cast Sept 20, 58 and assembled Sept 25, 58 since that would be for a 59 model year. Could you have erred on the last digit of the casting date?
The trans date matches the engine and rear axle so without checking the part number for the trans, I'm guessing it is also from the 58 car. Does it have the shifter mounting bosses on the the tailshaft housing?
The rear axle casting is a Buffalo built 3:36 powerglide passenger car application which probably came from the same donor car.

With a Tonawanda block, it's a PERFECT match for that police car/taxi cab restoration job!
