I have a 93-94 350 I installed using a 14091599N flywheel per the GM Dealer's parts department. I'm replacing the clutch and took it in to have the clutch pressure plate balanced with the flywheel. The machinest expected the flywheel to be neutral and it is not. Could this be the wrong motor/flywheel combination?

Re: 350 Crate Motor & Flywheel 14091599N
1986-up flywheels for one-piece rear seal 350's are weighted, not neutral-balanced, due to the unique configuration of the crankshaft vs. the earlier 2-piece rear seal cranks that use neutral-balanced flywheels.- Top

In addition to what John mentioned, if you were to look for a flywheel (or, flexplate) WITHOUT counterweight that would fit (i.e bolt up to) your 93 engine, you'd be looking for a long time since none were ever made.
It kind of surprises me that a machine shop wouldn't know this.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe,
This also surprised me after I read John's post. I believe they do a lot of race engine balancing and dyno work so I would have thought they would know. I didn't, but it's only a hobby for me. He did say that he had not balanced a pressure plate to a flywheel for sometime. I had planned on using them to do the machine and balance work on my L-78. May have to research that some more.- Top

Something I should have mentioned, but didn't: there are some crate engines that use a 2 piece seal block, especially those originally sold in the 90's, but even continuing to this day. If you have one of those engines, then the 14091599 is not the correct flywheel. It is very easy to determine which you have by looking at the flange configuration on the crankshaft. Otherwise, just post the casting number of the block and I can tell you which you have.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

That's correct; there is no way that the flywheels can be interchanged. However, I was not sure if the original poster had actually got to the point yet of trying to install the flywheel on the engine. If he has and the flywheel bolted up, then it's the correct one.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
