page 151 of the AIM shows the long bolt installed from front to rear. how ever the judging guide states "the right mount bolt is inserted, rear to front". was there a reason why this was done on the "line"? it seems to me that they'd both be installed front to rear. thnx,for any information in advance. pappy

Yes, the AIM drawing does show the bolt installation front to rear but that's not the way it was done on the assembly line for the right side mount. The reason is, when the engine was installed at the St Louis plant, the fuel pump was already installed on the engine, so the right side mount bolt could not be installed front to rear with the pump in place.
Also, the drawings of bolt installations shown in the AIM are typical and not specific as far as direction unless there is a note that describes the direction of installation.- Top
