Bowtie on Tailpiece?

I have seen BW tailpieces with and without the bowtie. I am not sure if it is a function of the variety ie., T-10-7B or D etc., the year, or if it specific to Corvettes.

Can someone please clarify? In particular, my car was built late in the model year (July 1961). I know that the main case was aluminum by then but I've never been clear about the bowtie aspect.

Mike, if I recall properly (CRS) Bowties were for Chevy's and there were none on Corvettes. Gary....

Mike the bowtie was used on 63 T-10s and on all 63 corvettes with T-10s Phil 8063

Thanks for the info. As a matter of fact, I have a 1963 BW tranny in stock that has a Bowtie on it. Other earler tail pieces don't have it. The puzzle pieces now fit together well.
