Delco 24-6YR Battery "love handles" for C2

Ok...this is probably a pretty dumb question but here goes.. Just dropped by my local GM dealer and picked up a Delco 24-6YR battery for my 65 roadster. Turns out the battery hold down doesn't clear the carrying handle bosses on the sides. These bosses appear to be molded as part of the case. Can these thing be easily hacked off or is there another NCRS friendly option short of spending $300?

your local plastic surgeon can remove the" love handles'' from Mr Delco with liposuction. seriously, if the handles are outside the length/width dimensions, i doubt you'll strike sulphuric acid by grinding the love handles. i assume they are beyond the length/width dimensions. good luck and let us know .mike

Due to too many cheeseburgers, the patient needed more drastic measures to remove the love handles. Being the want-a-be orthopedic I am, I chose the old standard..."Hack" saw. Handles are history. Patient's scaring will be negligible. .

It does not qualify for the "Owner Does His Own Restoration" Award if you don't have to do it at least Twice......

Cut off the handle bosses with a hacksaw or Dremel tool. Clean up and blend in the area where the bosses used to be with a Dremel tool.
