    Speedometer gear 1958 corvette

    Hi,
    I accidentally pushed in the little plastic speedometer gear into the tailstock of the transmission. I cannot now get it out. I am wondering if I can leave it in there or should I take out the transmission and get it out. Has anyone ever had this experience before? Please help! Thank you.

      Chuck: FWIW. The same thing happened to me on my 57 Tbird about 4 years ago. The gear is still in the tail housing and has not caused any problems.

          Did the same thing on the T10 on my '60. Never had a problem.

              Did the same thing on my '73 L-82 last year. No problems even running at 117 mph @ Michigan International Speedway.
