Re: L 78 intake questions
Don,
I have a couple of these manifolds. You are right about the date, and it would be "correct"for an early July car.. Reality is that nobody sees it.. so as I understand, it is not judged, just the same as dates on heads. Mine have the "T" but I have no idea what it means. I have never seen the "P" . What's most important to you is the part number (only one part number in 1965 for 396) and the Winters snow flake.
Good luck,

Donald -- I have a 2/17/65 dated manifold 3866963 (L78) with the "T" stamped on square boss on passenger forward. But the "P" stamped in the rear X-over block-off on the same side is a MIRROR IMAGE of an alphabetic P. How did they do that ?
I suspect these are just inspector's stamps.- Top

Re: L 78 intake questions
thanks guys i was cleaning it up today and found the P so i thought i would ask getting ready for engine assembly the short block is ready to pick up this saturday ...
i have read that some manifolds were painted silver ??? or was this done to touch up a poorly masked manifold after the engine was painted ?? ie some survivor cars have been documented with orange and silver overspray on some engine components ...- Top
