I`m a C2 person but have a friend with a 1987 Corvette. The black headliner is deatching and beginning to sag. Can any forum member who has experienced this problem please provide the procedure as well as the recommended adhesive

Remove the trim/mouldings the headliner panel should drop down. The panel needs to be cleaned with a hand brush or wire wheel the hand brush might be better. Get all the foam off the panel scrub the panel until no more little bits of foam come off, you can buy headliner material from an auto upholstery shop See if your local shop will glue the new headliner material to the panel the contact cement is usually sprayed through a spray gun which in my opinion is the best glue to use. It shouldn't cost much for them to glue the new material for you. If you would rather do it yourself use spray glue that will hold up to high heat, probably a 3M product part # 808090 I believe is the right #. Replace the panel/mouldings in the car and you are back on the road
