    C2 Day/Night Rear View Mirror anit-vibration bushing

There's a thread over on Corvette Forum on this vibration subject. So far all suggestions are for balancing the engine / tires, "live with it", etc.

But I recall Jack H. (if memory serves) talking about the bushing which I believe is shown in the photo below (the spring steel insert with 4 sides and a gap ?), and lists in the GM parts books.

This one is from a '65 (well, almost a '66) convertible with Z01 pkg. (note the corrosion = definitely not a coupe, although my '65 coupe has the same bushing). Am I correct to assume the purpose of this is to dampen vibration ? Certainly wouldn't want to post on CF without first consulting the experts.

    Wayne -

Nope, that bushing has nothing to do with any anti-vibration function - it just allows the screw to build enough clamping force in that joint to hold the mirror in vertical position while allowing you to override it and re-adjust the vertical position of the mirror on the support without having to loosen the screw.
