72 base small block vacuum advance

Can someone help me I.D. a vacuum advance with the number 427 15? I've read that the correct replacement would have been stamped with a B22. Call me crazy, I would like to get the TCS system operating. Thanks.

What is the distributor part number? I can give you the specs if I know the number of the dist. if it is the 1112050, the '437 is the original vacuum advance for the car, specs are starts at 7-9 inches, full advance at 16-18 inches of vacuum, total vacuum advance 8 distributor degrees (16 crank) mechanical advance starts at 1200 engine rpm, 2400 is 9-13 degrees total is 16-20 at 4200 rpm, engine rpm and timing are the numbers given for the mechanical timing.

"427 15" refers to distributor vacuum control GM #1973427. However, said vacuum control was never used on a Corvette (or, any other Chevrolet, but was used on other GM products).

The distributor vacuum control originally used for the 1972 Corvette base engine was GM #1973437 and it was stamped "437 15".

The correct current replacement for the 1973437 is stamped "B 22" and can be purchased under GM #19138052, Napa/Echlin #VC 1802, Standard Motor Products #VC 171, or Delco #D1308A.

I would say you are asking two questions that are not related. Please explain as I don't get it.

Lyle, The vacuum hose plumbing was changed by a previous owner to full time advance. In doing so, he removed the TCS from the vacuum system. I am asking for verification of the parts involved and the vacuum advance can needs to match spec. Jim

I understand now what you are doing. With the TCS system checked at an idle with a four speed transmission I never looked at it that way.
