    1965 A-bodies built during GM strike ?

A current eBay offering. Notice the trim tag date C13 (Oct 13th 1964). The NCRS '65 TIM&JG does not allow for bodies built during the strike (doesn't differentiate between A and S sources). Did Ionia start back early (after the GM general strike ended, and before St. Louis settled) ?

I've seen this once before, back in the early '80s, at a car meet in Regina Saskatchewan.

Wisconsin birthday site estimates 20th Nov. final assembly for VIN 02865.

    Any thoughts ?

    This is very interesting.

A related question: is there a good resource that lists the various strikes during the solid axle and midyear era?

      Wayne -

I don't think we'll ever know if Ionia started back early or if they kept building bodies after the GM strike started on September 25th and banked them until they ran out of space to store them or rail cars to store them on. All we really know is that St. Louis stayed out on strike on local issues after the GM National strike was settled and didn't go back to work until November 9th. BTW, the latest issue (6th Edition) of the "Birthday Book" shows them back to work on November 2, which is incorrect.

Shouldn't the VIN tag have rosette rivets?

The rosette rivets did not appear until later in the '65 model year. Early '65's do not have rosette rivets.
