C-3 Fan Shroud part # question

Hello everyone,

I am trying to determine what fan shroud #3974015 was used on?

Doing a little research on the board and in the AIM, my 71 BB w/ AC should have 3956119. It is a late production car and does have an intermix of 71 and 72 parts. Is #3974015 possibly be a 72 part?

You have the correct shroud for your application. I must admit, though, that it surprised me. I always thought that the GM #3956119 was used for all 1969-72 big block applications except L-88/ZL-1 and ZR-2. However, it wasn't. The GM #3956119 was used for all 1969 big block applications(except L-88/ZL-1), INCLUDING those L-36 and L-68 equipped with C-60 but the GM #3974015 was used for 1970-72 LS-5 with C-60. It was used in conjunction with fan shroud extension GM #3974014. The GM #3956119 was used for 1970-72 LS-5 applications without C-60, though.

The 3974015 was discontinued in late 1973 and replaced for SERVICE by the GM #331869. The GM #331869 was replaced almost immediately by the
GM #339175.

Hi Joe,

The fan shroud extension that you listed is the one I have also.
Fan shroud extension GM #3974014. Looks like I have a winner.
