Yes, and amber bulb, that the fiber optic plugs into, the lense is clear and the horsepower is diminished.

      Re: Fiber Optics

I own a last day production '71 (21701 of 21801) and it has it's factory fibre optics, including the turn signal pods.

The front turn signal lamps have, or should have, holes in them for the fiber optic boot. Mine are rubber and have a double lipped edges that can be a booger to get in or out. I used silicone spray and then pinch the boot while carefully twisting and lifting one edge to free the boot. The fiber optic end should just be flush with the top of the boot when inside the lamp hole. You are right to be careful. The fiber optic end has a metal clamp on the fiber optic line inside the boot that bunches all those tiny fibers together. If you pull the clamp off while tugging on the line you might have trouble getting it back on to work as well. If you just want to clean them take the lens off and do it that way. If the fiber optic end is not flush with the boot on the inside push the line until you see the line end appear and then carefully pull it back flush.
According to the 1970-1972 JG very late 1971 and 1972 did not have fiber optic holes in the turn signal pods.

As far as I know, all of 1971 production ended up with fiberoptics. I had #21439, a War Bonnet Yellow LS5 coupe, it had it.

After seeing at least three posts from people with very late production 1971s you think the 1970-1972 Judging Guide, 4th Edition needs a correction? Just going by The Book.

Actually, I always thought that all 1971's received the fiber optics, too. I believe it was included in the "list of standard features" for 1971 so I don't see how Chevrolet could have eliminated it (even though, in the "fine print" they always say they "reserve the right to change specifications without notice").

I think that this issue may sometimes get confused with the headlamp washer issue. Headlamp washers were not supplied on all 1971 Corvettes. However, I'm not sure that they were an advertised standard feature. They may have been, though.
