Wax Residue Removal

What's the best method for removing years of wax residue on the lettering found on the taillight lens. I've tried soft scrub with a brush to no avail. Is there a solvent that will do the trick?

Hi Joe,

I echo Brian's recommendation. Wax & grease removers are excellent to have around for a variety of cleaning chores, including cleaning stubborn deposits on a windshield, and certainly to prepare a surface for touch-up paint or fresh wax.

There are other manufacturers that make similar products to the 3M, as well - Dupont, for one, and I personally use Klean-Strip (Aircraft Prep) Prep-All Wax & Grease Remover. Your local parts store or body shop supplier should have one of these in stock.

most pro's use a bristle paint brush, one that you would get at an art supply shop.. you just flick away at the residue and it falls off!

A tooth pick works well for me.

3M Wax Remover, a toothbrush and a toothpick did the trick. Thanks to everyone for your input.
