Good Morning to all NCRS Members

My name is Greg Richart. I joined NCRS just under a year now, & have been reserching, reading & documenting all the info I can to help me decide on buying a C-3. I have been looking at Thousands of 1970 thru 1972 & narrowed it down to two 1970 corvettes now for last 5 months and have been able to take my time on reserching each of them in detail.
Thur the information that I have obtained from this discussion board and the Archives and all the books and DVD's I bought from the NCRS store I decided to get the 1970 Coupe, 350/300hp. The miles are a little high on the car but the best part about this car is the paperwork goes all the way back to ST Louis.
I figured todays the day to say hello & submit my first post to everyone on this forum and let you know that I appreciate all the information that has helped me get my vette. So now it's time to get busy and have fun restoring my car.
Warning, There have been times my friends have called me Bubba, so please be patient with me.

I too have just recently purchased my C3 (71), and like you, joined this group and did much research prior to my purchase. What you will find amazing as you restore is how much information is not in the books, but in the skulls of these guys who have "been there-done that" and are so willing to share there experience with us. Welcome. Congratulations on a good choice. I also own a 70 Cpe 350/300HP and it is a fun car. Make sure you take a look at the 1970 Corvette Registry and register your car.

Welcome to the NCRS board Any vette is better than no vette but you taking your time and getting a good documented car will pay off down the road

But beware of the sickness....

...that accompanies being an NCRS member. You'll start running paint & trim codes thru your head lying wide awake at night. You'll be deciphering the numbers on your wife's car......you'll spend at LEAST 1/2 your income (unless you're LOADED) on books, reference materials, AIM's, and suddenly 1100900 (or is it 901? I can't remember....CHECK THE JM, JEREMY!!!) will be a number you remember, unless your car has air, then 1100884 will be in your memory....Correct Delco/Packard date-coded spark plug wires will suddenly take precedence over your mortgage...your wife will wonder why all the porn you had on your computer has suddenly given way to various Corvette parts vendors and forums.....you'll be looking for those elusive front grilles with only one screw hole instead of 3.....and it goes on and on and on....nothing can save you now, you've been sucked into the whirling dervish called "Numbers Matching" and one can only hope that you can handle the task before you....oh, just wait until your wiper door solenoid behind the tach takes a dump on you and you try to drill the rivets out so you can clean it and your hand slips and you manage to go through the housing AND the coil winding inside and find that there are no more of those suckers out there NOS for under $200.00 (REPROS ARE NOT AN OPTION!!!!) so you HAVE suck it up and get some humility to go the repro route and even though the thing is behind the tachometer where NOBODY WILL SEE IT, YOU STILL KNOW IT'S A REPRO AND IT HAUNTS YOU IN YOUR SLEEP AND AT WORK AND AT HOME.....your family suffers while you scour the internet looking for that darn solenoid and you go to swap meets looking for that freaking part.....and you WILL FIND IT, when the Lord Above determines the time is right and you've suffered enough....for $5.00 in the bottom of some vendor's milk crate...and you knock him down to $3.00. THAT feeling you get, the satisfaction, the rejuvenation, the bliss, the burden of frustration suddenly lifted after finding your Holy Grail, is what makes being an NCRS member all worth it.

I just wish it hadn't rained so much and is 34 degrees out so I could take MY '70 out and get more coffee.....I seem to need some.....

A special thanks to Mr. Davito for that excellent post he sent me.
When I read that thread I knew or should say now I know what has happened to me over the past couple of years. Being up all hours at night looking for vettes on ebay and the other selling sites online. Bookmarking the refered sites for venders, painting, tires, correct bearings, parts, book on painting & parts catologs. Finding a new tech site with one piece of information or lots on info for the 1970 through 1972 Corvette.
Then I came accross the 70 registry. OH MY GOD. Look at all the numbers on this site & location of chalk numbers from the St Louis plant that are hidden in the car.
Then one night I joined NCRS and became a member, then a brite light shined through my house into my computer room where I was sitting, the faint sound of LAAAAAAAAA was ringing through my ears. I felt weak but at the same time I had this overwhelmingly EUPHORIC state of bliss sensation flowing thru my body and had come to realize that I was now infact going to become a vette owner of a 70 - 72 C-3. Now all this happened before I bought the car.
Now that the car is in my garage, I just sit and stare at it. I assume this is normal.
