Ok...I was having an aweful time with my q-jet on my 75 so i bought a 80555 holley replacement for it. And also bought the throttle cable mounting bracket that is for that carb. After putting it all on the motor the cable seems like its too long.I do not get full open throttle. Is it possible that the cable has stretched over time? Any ideas? Thanks

I've never observed a situation in which one of these accelerator cables became "stretched" to any point that affected its serviceability. For example, the cable in my 1969 has 200,000 miles on it and works fine. I much more suspect that the aftermarket bracket is not configured properly to work with the Corvette cable or the carburetor, itself, is not designed to work with the Corvette cable. This is one of the type of problems that often ensue when using "retrofit" type parts. These parts usually are cataloged to work for a wide range of applications and that, inevitably, leaves them marginal or deficient for some of those applications. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
