what gasket will fit the AC #7 radiator cap?

I recently bought a used AC RC-1 #7 radiator cap and the rubber gasket is rotted out. Can anyone tell me what radiator cap I should buy that I can salvage the gasket out of, that will fit in order to restore the AC #7 I have?

If the rubber gasket is gone....chances are the spring is weak as well. If the spring is weakened, chances are the cap will not function as a unit. It will become a 2,3,4,5 or 6 pound cap and will leak. I would suggest you buy a repo cap from any one of the major suppliers (ie: Paragon, Corvette Central, etc.) You cannot tell them apart from the originals (unless you're very anal!)

FYI I bought an RC38 cap (7 lb) from Chevrolet and the gaskets are still the same (one small and one large) after all these years. Pulled them with some smooth needle nose pliars and then mounted them on the original cap, that I had dunked overnight in some non-caustic rust remover and brightened up with fine 00 steel wool. Had it pressure tested by my local radiator guy and it tested out at 7 lbs. Not bad for a $40 dollar core cap plus a $13 dollar new cap Guess I'm a little anal :P
