Tom....Look at Paragon Reproductions V.32 2007 catalog, page 16. Their version is priced @ $245. With all the different definitions currently in the mix......this one comes closest to meeting the standard. Call Marilyn & Dave Heitzman (currently writing the updated 58-60 Judging Guide) marilynheitzman@msn.com
They can give you their definition and opinion on this balancer.

Tom, I've also been looking for an original for some time. Here are a couple of photos of an original 1961 high hp balancer. I've found several with the holes drilled, but it is my understanding that the correct balancer does not have the holes drilled through, only the balance holes. The balancer in the photos shows this.

FYI, I took Brad's advice and wrote to Marilyn and Dave Heitzman to ask their opinion of the balancer that Paragon sells. I will be out of town starting tomorrow but will let the Discussion Board know what their reply is next week.

The pulley was GM #3756328. It's been discontinued for a long time. However, I believe it's available in reproduction.

Is 3764318 the casting number or the part number? This one of two that I have and both are cast 3753066 or 3758066...kind of hard to read (disregard the number written on the balancer, it's wrong). There is also a numeral 8 on the inner spoke on the backside below the casting number and another character which looks like a manufacturers emblem of some sort.

Another thing I noticed is that the holes on the outer ring of the original line up exactly opposite the pulley bolt holes on the hub spokes whereas the repros made from the 350 balancer have the holes a few degrees out of alignment...probably due to the post 68 timing mark re-alignment . See the Damper Dudes repro pics on my previous post.

3764318 is the part #; any balancer that is presented to you that has holes in the outer ring IS INCORRECT. I'm not about to remove mine to measure it, but I recall that the diameter is SLIGHTLY more than 6"

Hi Guys. I have one identical to Cecil's except no holes on the outer perimeter. Casting number appears same as Cecil's also (bolt hole drilled in middle of cast number obscures couple digits). Anybody know correct application? Thanks, Gary

What is the depth of the center ring/outer ring as measued inside one of the spokes?

Center ring is 1 1/4. Outer ring is 1 1/8. Center ring protrudes out about 1/16 at both front and back.
