    Help w/57 Fuelie

I'd like to increase the idle speed of my 57 fulie. I haven't been able to find a manual. I don't see any info in the shop manual. Anyone know of a manual, or can someone point me in the right direction???

You can start with an Owners Guide or manual. It's the little book that came in the glove box from the factory. It has a chapter on maintenance and adjustments. Also the ST-12 has a good section on F.I. Rich

      Walt,
You might try Russ Uzes' web site since he has uploaded several manuals, one of which may be exactly what you're looking for.

        Walt,

This picture is for a '62 but the '57 should be very similar. Idle air adjustment is made by the large spring loaded screw in the picture.

          Walt -

The ST-12 ("1953-62 Corvette Servicing Guide", the only shop manual GM ever published for C1's) has 33 pages on the fuel injection system; it's available from the on-line store on this site.

With todays lousy gasoline, you may have more of a problen than just idle mixture.

Heat and evaporation of these fuels are making Rochester Fuel injected cars run terrible. Good old 108 'leaded Racing Fuel' has fixed a lot of these driveability problems.

              Walt,

I agree with the others: get a copy of the ST12. In the mean time, this article from Autozone of all places is a pretty decent primer on the subject of Rochester Fuel Injection. It focus on the 63-65 units but the basic design did not really change thru the years, with the exception of the various choke mechanisms.

                  Walt,

The ST-12 is about half way down the page:

It is called "1953-62 Corvette Servicing Guide ST-12"

Walt, The ST-12 manual is not the one you want. It's basically for the 62's but quite useful for the 58 to 61 and also good for the midyear owners. Especiallly the hi-pressure pump info. So often on ebay you see '57 FI manuals-reprints for sell cheap.
Idle adjustments on the air meter side-the air cleaner side so to speak.
Look for the big fat screw pointing horizontal on the side of the air meter. Head about the size of a time. Turn that screw in or out to adjust the idle.
Also the idle fuel screw can be used to get the smoothest operation when the engine is warmed up. It's around the corner from the big fat idle screw. Looks like a typical carb idle fuel screw. Hopefully your throttle butterfly is corrected adjusted also. Although the manuals say this clearance is supposed to be .005 this is not gospel. Just play with the big fat screw. NCRS has manuals available in "The Driveline" also.
