Idle Stop Solenoid

Does anyone know the part # for the idle stop solenoid on a '73 small block? It's an L82 4spd non a/c but I don't think that makes a difference.

And while we're discussing parts, what reference do you use for these small part numbers like idle solenoid, egr valve, etc. The aim lists alot, but not all of these.

Hi Chris, My 53-78 parts book lists it as 1997409 for 72,3,4 350ci.

What parts book is that? I hear people talk about Hollander's or Mortec, I'd like to get my hands on the best one.

Mortec www.mortec.com Chevy engine codes and casting numbers.

Hollander's is an interchange manual. Not a lot of information for just Corvettes, but a whale of a knowledge base when looking for interchangeable items

....Your welcome. It's an original GM dealer parts book I bought at a flea market about 20 years ago, and just realized it goes to 79. You can get reprints(left book) for 53-72 by Motorbooks Intl. I have one of those too. I also have a original 1923-59 Pass/Truck/Corvette parts book, about 1700 pgs. GM Check the NCRS store, they may have the53-72. If not a Google search may get you there.

The GM #1997409 solenoid is long-since GM-discontinued. Even its replacements, the GM #1997470 and GM #17111376 are now discontinued. However, you may be able to get a replacement as manufactured by Standard Motor Parts.
