Anyone know where I can find leaded "racing" fuel in the San Fernando Valley? I know that Blair's Speed Shop in Pasadena has it but I'm looking for something closer to the Northridge area.

Hey -I like to mix leaded 110 in all my old cars. Just makes them run better.

be very careful of the fumes if you buy racing fuel by the drum. a friend was pumping racing fuel from a 55 gallon drum into 5 gallon containers and since gasoline fumes are heavier than air they travel along the floor. the fumes blown by the wind coming in the open garage door went under the door between the garage and the basement and his wife was standing next to the gas fired hot water heater and the fumes ignited when the water heater came on. she died several days later

Jeff, I live in the SFV and the "Trick Racing Fuel" distributor in Van Nuys
will only sell Leaded Racing fuel in 55 gallon drums. If you dont mind driving
to Westchester near the Marina, there is a 76 station on Lincoln south of
Jefferson that sells several grades of Leaded Racing fuel. I buy 110 and mix it with Unleaded premium and get good results.

I use a Sunoco in west Ft. Lauderdale.
Up until recently you could pump right into the tank. Now you have to bring jugs.

The 110 leaded is an absolute bargain these days.

Used to be that 93 premium was $1.39 a gallon - the 110 leaded was $5.75.
Now 93 is $3.79 and the 110 is ONLY $5.95 - what a deal.

The unleaded gas in Ca has become so "light" (due to additives, etc.) that engine and outside heat causes the gas to disapate prior to getting through (in my case) the injection unit. I understand that carborated engins are also having the problem. Also the fuel pump is mechanical so the pressure isn't as high as could be in an electric one. The leaded gas is available in octanes of 98 - 110+. Its sometimes called racing fuel because alot of racers still use it at the track. It is what the engines were designed for and consequently are able to withstand the heat issues.
