while looking at the NCC video page I see that Chevrolet will send a restoration package to anyone that calls for one. Before I call, has anyone got one? I have a 60 corvette. Is it something usable or a way for GM to get my name and send me advertising? Maybe I'm looking a gift horse in the mouth.

Re: restoration packages
I got one for my 65 a long time ago. Also picked one up for someone else a few months ago. That one seemed like a smaller package but it was 10 years ago when I got mine. I was disapointed in mine but its free so don't expect much. I never got any extra advertising after receiving it.- Top

Re: restoration packages
I haven't seen the package for pre-'63 cars, but the one for midyears includes the AMA Specifications, the Engineering information package, the dealer ordering information, and other stuff. It's not specific to a VIN number, but is excellent engineering/specs information you won't find anywhere else. Also got the package for my '69 Camaro, and that's good info too - you can't beat the price, and I never got any followup sales pitch for anything.- Top

Re: restoration packages
I ordered one for my `67 several months ago. The girl who helped me with the order was not familiar with them , but quickly got the info. The price was right and there has never been any follow-up trying to sell me something else or put me on a mailing list. As mentioned, the info is not specific to the vin.- Top

Re: restoration packages
STEVE-
I sent for my 74 restoration Package a few weeks ago and just recieved it yesterday. I agree with the others, no big deal here. I was expecting a lot more info. pertaining to my perticular V.I.N. number, but never got it. Almost all of the info. they send you is photo copied out of the Service Manual, Overhaul Maual, Owners Manual, Etc. My package was loose leaf and about 30 pages of already published info. Have your V.I.N. handy when you call, but don't expect much. I almost wish they'd charge you $50.00 and get some in-depth V.I.N. info. that would help you establish a history for your peticular car. Oh well!
Good Luck and let us know how it comes out for ya....Marty- Top

Re: restoration packages
I just called and got mine. The number is 1-800-222-1020. It will be automated but just get to the operator and ask for the restoration package. They will know what you are asking for. They were very nice and the only thing you need to give them is your vin # and address.- Top

Re: restoration packages
I just ordered one for my 68. The process was easy and the operator related I should receive it in a few weeks. There are two kinds of friends; the friend you call to bail you out of jail and the friend sitting next to you in the cell saying "Damn, that was great"!!!- Top

Re: restoration packages
When I visited the GM Historical Museum near Detroit I specifically asked if there would be any build sheet, VIN information available on Corvettes built before production was moved to Bowling Green. I was told that there is very complete information available on Bowling Green vehicles.
Also there was very little possibility of any pre-Bowling Green information ever being found.

Re: restoration packages
I got one for a '61 several weeks ago. Very basic specifications contained therein, but all in one place for ready reference. I was really surprised that it came Overnight Mail from an address in Maine. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth, but the General ought to be saving some money with regular mail as therfe is not that great a rush in getting these things out. Has anyone else had the Overnight Mail experience?- Top
