    66 shock paint color?

I am purchasing some AC delco replacement black shocks and want to paint them the correct gray color. Is there any close to original gray in a rattle can or a color I can have my local paint guy mix up?

I believe that Long Island Corvette sell a rattle can that they refer to as Shock gray. I used it and it looks good.

      Tom:

Both Paragon and Quanta also carry the correct shock absorber gray paint. Part number #2682 from Paragon and #0703 from Quanta for spray cans.

Just about any of the larger Corvette parts suppliers should have what you need.

          Thomas----

I think any of the suggested paints will work fine. The original shock paint was not a "precise" sort of color; it varied.

In military procurement, every nuance of detail for a procured item is tied down "six ways from Sunday". For example, the military has a huge specification chart for colors and each is defined by a 5 digit code. When a 5 digit code for color of a part is specified, the part has to meet the EXACT specifications for that 5 digit code.

GM didn't do anything like that for shocks. What was the GM color spec for these shocks? They were to be finished in "gray". Now, that leaves a very WIDE choice of shades.

I've used Krylon "smoke" color with no deductions
