I have three variations of tail pipe extension for 63-67. 1st pair have a seam, no part number, magnetic and light weight for sure.
2nd pair are Stainless with no seam, very thick and weight a ton.
3rd pair have a seam, small parts number and logo. Triangle is the logo?
3819573. Except for the first 3 the entire number is up on the expanded part of the extension that slips over the muffler. The heat shield on the 63 may cover this number so it's not visible when installed.
Qt: The 100% correct ones I assume are my 1st pair. But they aren't show condition.
The 3rd pair are NOS out of the box but have the tiny part number. Am I correct in assuming (uass) that when in stalled judges can't see the number?
Last question that is bugging me. The Stainless pair are in the original boxes. I can't remember crap anymore so did GM sell them like this or did I or bubba rebox them. Put repros in original boxes I mean?
One more question: The ones i want to use are magnetic. It doesn't appear that they are chrome plated steel. I have them in front of the screen and they appear to be stainless but magnetic. If this is so I can cheat and buff the numbers off?
Recap: are the numbers seen when installed on a 63 with the heat shield.
Can the numbers be buffed off.
Is the material a Stainless steel alloy that is in fact magnetic?
Thanks, John D.
