    Correct 69 Master Cylinder Source

Can anyone comment good or bad about these guys?

I'm thinking of getting one of their dated 5460346 master cylinders and would like to know what you all think about it and them as a vendor.

How does the julian dating work on these? All I have left on my original one is 353 so for a Jan 31-69 car should it read 8353 or 3538....or could it just be 353?

    Greg-----

Normally, the date coding system used has the last digit of the year first and the 3 digit julian date following that (i.e "8353" in your example). I have not seen any with 3 digit codes. However, by no means does that mean there were not any so-coded. Delco-Moraine, more than other GM divisions, had a "habit" of using julian dates without reference to year. It is seen frequently on castings made to Delco-Moraine specs. So, it would not surprise me, at all, if that didn't carry over into some of their stamped date codes.

As far as the reproduction master cylinders, I have looked at them carefully. I've yet to lay one side-by-side with an original and compare, but I definitely plan to do so.

The only very slight thing that I've noticed is that the castings have a very slightly rougher texture than originals. I believe this is because the originals were manufactured from nodular or malleable cast iron whereas the reproductions are cast from gray iron. For whatever reason, gray iron castings always seem to have a slightly rougher surface texture. But, I really need to get these parts side-by-side to really assess this.

In general, the reproductions look very true to the originals in virtually all aspects of configuration as far as I can tell.

      Greg,

I don't have any experience with this vendor. I've used Lone Star Caliper and they offer correctly configured satinless steel sleeved MC Assembliesfor your application.

Unless I miss my guess, CSSB is THE source for all the 346 master cylinders that various vendors are selling. If not them, then it is Lonestar. You get the same cylinder from either of them.
