Did the shocks front and rear all have yellow paint marking at the top.1953-1958

I don't know about all, but the 54 I bought back in 74 still had oriignal shocks and they had yelow paint dabs on the top of them. I restored them that way.

What did the paint "dab" look like, do you have a photo you could post or email to me?

Sorry, way too long ago for pics. My memory says about a 1/4" wide brush, running about an inch, starting at the top of the housing and running toward the bottom.

This yellow stripe is often found on the diff-housing indicating some sort of inspection been done...
