    C4 License Plate bolts?

What are the correct license plate bolts for a 1986 Corvette? Can you get these at any Chevy dealership?

    Pete,

Resurrecting an old post here, but the '84 - '86 JM says Torx heads for the front plate filler are correct. Mine has cross recessed there and appear stock so this may have been a running change, as I know my '91 that I bought new had Torx T15 there at the underside of the filler plate (a trick to get to and re-install).

The rears seemed to be standard zinc plated cross head? FWIW there, I seem to recall that my '91 came with a "USA 1" black rear plate surround/holder.

Here's a pic of bolts for the 91-96's with a pic of the one of the front (factory plate filler) license plate bolts.

Yup. That's what I've got on my 96.

All 1991-1996 Corvettes (including ZR-1)came from the factory with the USA 1 rear license plate frame. The state plate slipped in sideways in frame held with the 4 torx style bolts shown in above posts. Not the standard car style. Part number on the rear frame is GM part number# 10146492. Not sure if license plate frame is still available from GM.

Unfortunately, GM #14018850 was never a SERVICE-available part number. It was, apparently, the part number of the PRODUCTION-only SET of screws supplied in the car. It's very possible that the single screws were available in SERVICE, though. However, I have not been able to confirm a part number for said screws.

Well it's late but I'm still up. I found something else relating to C4's. Sitting in my store room all these years. This was a shipping cover for the rear license plate from Bowling Green on the Corvette. Fits the 84-90 Corvette rear bumper.

GM #10146492 was once available from GM but it was discontinued several years ago.

I do not have the part number, but the ZR1 rear filler was a totally different part. It was larger to fill the larger spot in the wider rear bumper. The plate dropped in from the top center and didn't slide in from the side on the ZR1 unit, either.

Interesting. There is quite a hole back there without any plate on and BG must have figured that would keep allot of crap out of the rear tub/tank area during shipment on the transporter.

I'd never seen this before. Thanks for posting.

Chris - Thanks. But I have long since picked the correct license plate bolts up at Corvette Central. I have had them judged three times now without any problems.

It was GM #16509671. It was discontinued without supercession several years ago. If one needed one, one would be hard-pressed to find one.
