    C2 Headlight motor switch mounting

    Hi all,

Recently took my headlight motor switch out for simple cleaning and for the life of can not remember how to remount it so it will sit fllush under the dash. Can someone offer some help here and provide a picture of how it is supposed to look when fully installed? Thanks.

Actually the picture is incorrect. The tabs that are extended from the switch go inside the dash cluster. It is sandwiched between a flat "nut" and the edge of the cluster housing. A black oxide phillips screw threads into the nuts through each of the 2 holes. Although the pictured installation is very common, it is incorrect.

        Brian,

After looking closely at the assembly manual I would have to say you are wrong. The picture clearly shows it being mounted to the outside. Not being there in 64 I can't say for sure which way it's supposed to be. Thanks for the help though.

          Brian,

After looking at it again I think you are definetly correct. It's definetly hard to tell in the manual.

          Thanks,
          Craig

No problem,I can assure you that the mounting in the pictures is without question, incorrect.

              FWIW
Brian's description is valid and well stated.
This is consistent for all of the mid-years.
Unfortunately, we see many cars with the above pictured configuration on the judging field which do receive a deduction.
This incident further emphasises my concern with "Registries" as sources of "Typical Factory Production".
