Did anyone see the 68 that sold for $152,000 at B-J? It's lot 350.1, if you want to see the listing on the B-J website. It's a 68 red small block convertible. Older repaint. Body never off the frame. Engine not rebuilt with over 100 k miles. Claims to have a Top Flight, but otherwise nothing really special. And it sold for $152,000? Someone should have given the high bidder a breathalyzer. I suspect he was BWI (bidding while intoxicated)!

Don, my wife and I will be there today mostly for the entertainment. We especially enjoy seeing the variety of cars you only see at B-J. And you never know when you might catch a deal later on a car that didn't sell at auction. Jim- Top

I looked and it's true. It's a 327/350 convertible, minimum options. 105K miles, Top Flight.

BWI or not, it helps me when my wife tells me I spend too much money
on my car. I hope this guy has relatives.- Top

Re: 68 Sells for $152,000 at B-J
I just read a piece quoting Hagerty and saying classic car prices had dropped 20-30% due to the housing mess. It linked the two by saying folks had been buying the classics with home equity money which is harder to come by. Now I see this. From the description, my 69 is in better shape and I'd let it go for half that price and buy a new Vette.- Top

I didn't see that part of the auction, so I thought for sure it must have had some special significance, like VIN 001, or Zora's personal '68 etc...?
Could it have been the owner knew someone was desperate for the car, so he helped bid it up? Or, someone with a vested interest trying to artificially bring up the C3 market?
Who knows,
