What are the correct numbers for the heads on a 350/350 L46 for a 1970? Build date of 1/70 if that makes a difference. CTH on pad. THanks Chris

Re: Correct head numbers
3927186. Same heads used for all Corvette 350ci engines, including LT1. 64cc closed chambers
For 1971, "open chambered" 70cc heads were used to lower the CR.
The "186" heads are probably the best gestation of the "fuellie" heads to use for port work. The plug is located higher in the chamber, which allows for milling with more clearance to the piston crown. Also promotes a faster burn than earlier "461" heads.

Re: Correct head numbers
Also, these heads were not, at all, unique to Corvettes. They were widely used in the 69-70 model years. Examples with 2.02"/1.60" valve sizes are a lot less common and unique to L-46 and LT-1 Corvettes as well as Z-28 Camaros. However, the smaller valve size heads (1.94"/1.50") are externally identical and can be converted to the larger valve size.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Correct head numbers
Thanks to both Joes. The car now has 202's on it and 555 cam with a 780 dual squirt and mallory ignition. Other than that is is bone original with 14,ooo original miles miles on it. The previous owner did the motor work and did not save the original equiptment. Numbers match all thruout and even has the tank sticker still on the tank. Was thinking about putting it back to original or at least get the correct dated and numbered parts just in case.- Top
