Is it believed that all 1955 Corvettes after about 675 were just standard shift or were there some automatics mixed in ?

I had#225 and it was a 3 speed ,3 speed can be found in any number 55 not just that last models .

This is what I have from the last 100 55s in my DB:

#600 AT
#639 AT
#640 AT
#659 3S
#660 3S
#676 3S
#679 3S
#693 3S

I don't show ATs after #640, but I have many VINs after #600 that did not list the tranny type. Eric

FWIW - The Corvette Black Book reports approximately 75 units produced with 3-speed. I've heard this figure many times in the past.

eric sorry had to look in nlonds book think it was 422 been more then 30 years knew it had 22 in it went to burbank ca.

1955 Corvette 3 Speeds...

It has always been my understanding that (documented, real) 3 speed '55 Corvettes were not introduced or available until quite close to the end of production. In other words, what the survey shows - about the last 100 cars. But then, I'm no '55 xpurt...

Don, I think there are more then 100. My guess would be 300 to 400. I have several hundred accounted for myself. As Roy has mentioned they seem to be climbing out of their barns to see the light of day again.

Do you have #683 in your database, I lost track of it in 1990? Anyway, it is originally harvest gold with green top and 3 speed. When I saw it last it was painted black and rarely left the garage. It was originally from New Orleans and moved to Mississippi in it's early days, sure would like to know where it ended up.

Remember that "x" is an unknown quantity and "spurt" is a drip under pressure. Therefore it follows that an expert is an unknown drip under pressure.
