    67 Dash Cluster Capacitors

Hey, been working on my dash cluster this winter and I have a few questions about the capacitors.

    1. Exactly how many are there on the back of the dash? If I am looking at the AIM U69 (A4), I believe I see 3 that include:

    A) Capacitor attached by a pin assembly to the tan wire. Is that the "radio capacitor? That one I have.

    B) Ignition capacitor. This one I'm missing. It appears that someone cut the connector off the brown wire and tucked in a plastic sleeve along another wire (not sure why except to keep the cut wire from dangling). So, I can get a modern capacitor to replace this one, but might have some trouble connecting it.

    C) Ammeter capacitor. Again missing on my dash. I have a modern replacement. My question here is how does it attach? It appears that it has a brass piece that "inserts" in the plug and then connects to the ammeter pins on the dash. Is that correct?

Would appreciate any comments anyone might have about these capacitors as well as their utility. I know some people think they cause more problems than they are worth. Thanks.

There's one for the turn signal flasher under right hand dash.

      Kirk -

      (B) is the radio capacitor attached to the cluster can adjacent to the ignition switch - the brown wire from the instrument panel harness with a single black female connector on it plugs into that capacitor; that wire is "hot" any time the key is "on".

      (C) is the radio capacitor attached to the outboard terminal on the ammeter - the brass "flag" is bent and inserted into the cavity in the connector that accepts the terminal spade.

Long Island Corvette Supply has all of the capacitors.
